Editing
Editing involves revising a translation to improve its style, accuracy, and consistency. The extent of the editor's input depends on the quality of the original translation and the client's needs. In some cases entire sections may be rewritten, while other times edits could be relatively minor, limited to a few word and grammatical changes.
Proofreading
Proofreading focuses on the style and appearance of a translated document, typically one that has been formatted via a desktop publishing program. We compare the translation to the original document, identifying potential errors that have been introduced in the process of reformatting. These include misplaced text, incorrect word breaks, and inconsistent typography and formatting.
